Minnesota's Legacy Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund is made possible with money from an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature, from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008. The purpose of the Legacy Fund is to provide Minnesotans greater access to the arts.

There are three areas of funding: access, education and heritage. Each area is designed to enhance the public's participation in art activities and art programs. There is no match requirement and there is no maximum amount of funding.

Since January 2010, LRAC has awarded a total of $815,432 in Legacy grants to public schools, colleges and universities, arts organizations, cities, nonprofit organizations, and individual artists in the nine county LRAC region.
