Robert Flett

Robert J. "Bob" Flett, 71, of Dent, Minn., died Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at his home in Dent, where he had been under the extended care of Lakeland Hospice since August of this year. Robert had been ill for some time with pulmonary fibrosis.

Robert James Flett was born to William and Mary (Peterson) Flett on June 1, 1936 in Minneapolis, where he was raised and attended school. He worked as a youth at the Minneapolis ballpark, and did many other small jobs until he started work in the ceramic trade with Dale Tile in Minneapolis. He began his own business as Tile Craft in the early 1970s.

Robert married Irene Anderson in 1958, adopting her three children; they went on to have three children together. They later divorced. Robert married his soul mate, Sondra (Powley) Geisler on Sept. 17, 1982 and was a special dad to her two daughters.

Robert enjoyed fishing, watching baseball and football, working with wood, attending grandkids' activities and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Vergas United Methodist Church, faithfully attending every Sunday. He served as head usher and lay leader for many years, and was president of the Vergas UM Men's Club.

Robert is survived by his wife, Sondra Flett of Dent; two sons, Scott Flett of Elk River, Minn., and Michael (Patty Moran) Flett of Ellsworth, Wis.; six daughters, Charlene (Clyde) Reetz of Prior Lake, Minn., Rebecca (Walt) Byers and Theresa (Kenny) Behrens of Pine City, Minn., Michell (Doug) Regan of Brook Park, Minn., Sheri (Jodean) Schoenberger of Detroit Lakes and Lisa (Scott) Lynne of Ottertail, Minn.; brothers, David Flett of Maple Grove, Minn., George (Lydia) Flett of Minnetonka, Minn., and Donald (Lynn) Flett of Osseo, Minn.; a sister, Ellen (Gerald) Pederson of Bloomington, Minn.; 23 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; as well as many, many other family and friends. He will be dearly missed!

Robert's parents, his brother Billy, and sisters Hazel and Shirley preceded him in death.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 at the United Methodist Church in Vergas, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., continuing Monday for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at the United Methodist Church in Vergas, with the Rev. Gary Klempke officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Vergas Village Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred sent to the United Methodist Church, Vergas, P.O. Box 326, Frazee MN 56544.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furey Funeral Home, Vergas.
