UMM’s Education Minnesota Students Program is sponsoring  a “Read Across America with Dr. Seuss” event, on Saturday, March 2 in the library meeting room from 1 – 3 p.m. This event is open to all age groups and will include a story time, crafts, movie, and snacks. Come one, come all.

The Friends of the Library is sponsoring an author event for Thursday, March 21 from 1 – 2:30 p.m. in the library meeting room. Scott Thoma grew up in Tracy, Minn. and now lives in Willmar. He wrote a book, “Out of the Blue” which chronicles the tornado that devastated the town of Tracy, Minn. in 1968. Refreshments are provided by the Senior Center. Join us.

The Viking Library System has purchased a one year subscription to 100 titles of electronic magazines from Zinio. This is a brand new service, and easy to use. Set up an account with your library card number and you have access to your favorite magazine issues. Visit the Viking Library, and click on the ‘Of Note’ link or stop in the library today for instructions.

The Women of Today is sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt for Tuesday, March 26 on the library grounds, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Our display case this month features a collection of string holders belonging to Vicky Dosdall. No longer being used today, these contraptions used to keep string/yarn from tangling. Come in and take a look at the variety. The display case is booked through August, but if you have a collection you would like to share, contact the library to schedule a month to display them – 320-589-1634.

From time to time, some of our books “go missing.” Two that recently disappeared are: “City of Fallen Angels,” by Cassandra Clare and “Witch and Wizard”, a teen book by James Patterson. If anyone would like to “sponsor” the re-purchasing of these titles, it would be appreciated and our series can be completed.

The library will be closed on Friday, March 29 for Good Friday.
