MORRIS, Minn. --  A  blizzard warning for west central Minnesota has been downgraded, but a winter weather advisory remains in effect until noon Monday for much of the area, including the Morris, Benson, Herman, Glenwood and Alexandria areas. Strong winds will cause blowing and drifting snow, and white-out conditions are possible in open areas.  Northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph, are forecast expected, the Weather Service says. Winds will subside this afternoon.

In several areas of western Minnesota travel is not advised due to heavy snow, blowing snow and reduced visibility.  Check the Minnesota Department of Transportation's web site, for more detailed information.

Businesses up and down Atlantic Avenue dug out Monday morning after a foot of snow fell in Morris over the weekend.   Weather forced area schools to close, along with several businesses.
