Henriksen resigns as Hancock Police Chief
Hancock's Police Chief Steve Henriksen has resigned after about four years on the job.
Henriksen's resignation was effective May 8 but it was approved at the May 14 Hancock City Council meeting.
Henriksen has accepted a full-time job with the Swift County Sheriff's Office.
The police chief worked a total of 20 hours over a 15-day pay period, Mayor Bruce Malo said.
The council said it will meet with Stevens County Attorney Aaron Jordan and Stevens County Sheriff Jason Dingman to get their input before it makes a decision on replacing the police chief.
City officials said the sheriff's office would continue to provide 911 coverage and some patrol coverage while the chief's position is vacant.
