Our mild winter came to an abrupt halt over the weekend with snow, cold and stormy weather. It started snowing some on Friday and continued off and on the rest of the weekend, with about seven inches when all was said and done. Blizzard conditions on Sunday caused most church services and other events in the area to be postponed or canceled. On Monday it was time to put the shovels, snow blowers, scoops, etc. back to work again.

From St John's/ Kongsvinger: The Sunday school program will be held at St. John's on Dec. 16 at 9:45 a.m. and at 7 p.m. on Dec. 20 at Kongsvinger.

There will be no Sunday school on Dec. 23 or 30.

The Kongsvinger Church Lutheran Women are once again having a Christmas card club with donations going to the Lutheran Campus Ministry in Morris. The deadline is Dec. 23.

From Good Shepherd Lutheran Church: The final advent service will be held on Dec. 19 at 7 p.m.

The Sunday school program will be held on Dec. 23 at 9 a.m. The choir will also sing.

There will be a cookie factory at Faith Lutheran Church of Morris today (Saturday) from 9 a.m. - noon.

Living nativity services will be held at Faith Lutheran on Dec. 24 at 3 and 5 p.m.

There will be a community Christmas dinner at First Lutheran Church in Morris on Dec. 25 at noon.

Former Donnelly area resident Jerry Henrichs passed away Dec. 9.

On Nov. 29, I traveled to Breckenridge to hear Doug Ohman give a presentation on "Byways of Minnesota."

Elaine Harstad and I attended the prayer service and funeral for Florentine Erickson.

Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended advent services at Good Shepherd on Dec. 12.

Algene Larson was presented with her honorary pin at The Kongsvinger Lutheran Church Women's brunch on Dec. 6.

On Dec. 7 I traveled to the Fargo area where I met Mark Koepke for lunch, then I went to Concordia College for their annual Christmas carol concert.

Vedar Harstad and I attended the "Angles Among Us" presentation by Wayne and Donna Jo Kopitzke in Morris on Dec. 8.

Delano Meyer, Pearl A. Anderson, Pastor Mike Hanson and Jack, John and Joan Kopacek visited me when I was in the hospital for some tests.

The United Farmers and Merchants State Bank in Donnelly will have a farewell open house on Dec. 28.
