Stevens County nonprofits participate in state 'Give to the Max Day'

MORRIS - Thursday, Nov. 15 is Give to the Max Day, a collaborative effort among Minnesota nonprofits to fundraise through GiveMN.

GiveMN is a collaborative venture to transforming charitable giving in Minnesota by encouraging e-philanthropy through their website, Since its launch in November 2009, GiveMN has facilitated more than $48 million in donations to 6,100 Minnesota nonprofits. Nearly half of all Minnesota nonprofits report that GiveMN is their primary online giving vehicle.

On Give to the Max Day, every donation made though GiveMN has the opportunity for participating organizations to earn extra donations. And this year, K-12 public schools will have the opportunity to participate in Give to the Max Day.

There will also be bonuses throughout the day. One nonprofit donor and one K-12 public schools donor will be randomly chosen every hour to have $1,000 added to their donation. One nonprofit donor and one K-12 public schools donor will also be selected randomly from throughout the 24 hours of giving to have $10,000 added to their donation.

The three nonprofits that get the most people to donate during this event will receive $12,500 for first place, $5,000 for second place and $2,500 for third place.

The "Most Creative Give to the Max Day Fundraising Campaign Award" will be awarded to the winning nonprofit showing a creative approach to fundraising with a $500 prize grant at the Association of Fundraising Professionals Minnesota Chapter National Philanthropy Day luncheon on Nov. 16. Nonprofits must apply to be eligible to win.
