The weather has been sunny and mild for most of the last week with a few rain showers sprinkled in. The crops continue to look good so far.

From St. John's/ Kongsvinger parish: The summer schedule begins June 3 with services at Kongsvinger at 8:30 a.m. and at 10:15 a.m. at St. John's.

Vacation Bible School will be at Kongsvinger this year on June 10-13 from 6-8 p.m. To register or for more information, call the church office at 246-3211.

From Good Shepherd Lutheran Church: adult Bible studies will resume after services on June 3.

The summer book club is The Hammer of God by Bo Giertz. Their first meeting will be on June 20. Please call the church office at 585-6868 to obtain a copy of the book.

First Lutheran Church will have a CPR /defibrillator class on June 5 from 1-4 p.m. Call 589-3242 to register.

Rose Athey informs me that there will be women's softball games on Thursdays in June at Aanerud Field. Due to a decrease in numbers, there will not be any Little League games in Donnelly this year.

There will be open house graduation parties today (Saturday) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Cody Eystad at the Donnelly hall and also for Kristina Johnson at the main shelter at Pomme de Terre Park. At 5 p.m. today, there will be an open house in honor of Dave Schmidt's 70th birthday at the Place To Be in Donnelly.

There will be an open house on June 3 at Pomme de Terre Park near Morris in honor of Cliff and Betty Johnson's golden wedding anniversary.

The Red Hatters will meet on June 4 at 1 p.m. at the Place To Be. The city council and Rendsville 4-H will meet Monday at 7 p.m.

The Zoomobile will be at Morris Public Library on June 5 at 11 a.m.

Stevens Community Medical Center will have a Relay for Life fundraiser on June 5 at 5 p.m. at the hospital. A free will offering will be collected.

On June 9, there will be a retirement open house for Duke Eystad at St. John's in Donnelly from 2-6 p.m.

There will be an open house bridal shower for Amy Day, daughter of Garry and Bonnie Gulbrandson, on June 10 at 1 p.m. at the Kongsvinger parish hall.

The Agralite annual meeting will be held on June 8 at 7 p.m. in the Benson High School.

The Morris Life Care Pregnancy Center will hold a life walk on June 10 from noon to 3 p.m. at East Side Park in Morris.

The bookmobile will be in Donnelly at 3:30 p.m. on June 11.

Congratulations to the Morris Area High School student council on being Student Council of the Year. Several Donnelly area students are members of the council.

Congratulations to Jackie Dripps who is celebrating her 20th year providing child care.

Britney Cardwell earned a Silver Award, the highest award a Cadette Girl Scout can achieve.

The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta track team won the subsection track meet on May 24. MaKenzie Smith finished second in the 1600 and third in the 3200 meter runs and also finished fifth in the discus. Rebekah Aanerud finished fourth in 100 hurdles and second in the 300. Beth Holland was a member of the 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams that finished first and second. She and McKenzie were members of the 4x400 that finished fifth. Savannah Aanerud was a member of the 4x800 relay team that finished first.

Louise Koehntop of Morris passed away on May 26. Survivors include her grandson, Loren (Kaylene) Mecklenburg and their family.
