UMM Preview

Dance Ensemble Performances

The UMM Dance Ensemble will perform on Saturday, April 21, at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. All performances are in Edson Auditorium. Twenty-two dance pieces will encompass the theme "Dancing 'Til the World Ends," which will be showcased in a final production number to Britney Spears' song "'Til the World Ends." Tickets are available.

Earth Week Stuff Exchange

Sunday through Wednesday, April 22-25, Big Friend/Little Friend will observe Earth Week by offering the opportunity to exchange old stuff for new old stuff. Silk screening techniques will also be taught to help make old clothes look new again. Sunday and Monday, 8 a.m.-noon; Tuesday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.; and Wednesday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. in Oyate Hall's Cougar Room. Free and open to all.

Senior Voice Recital

Rachel Busko will give her senior voice recital on Sunday, April 22, at 2:30 p.m. in the Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall. Free and open to everyone.

Sophie and the Adventures of Ice Island on Pioneer Public Television

The theatre discipline's 2011 children's show, Sophie and the Adventures of Ice Island, will be shown on Pioneer Public Television KWCM, Appleton, and KSMQ in Austin on Sunday, April 22, at 4 p.m. in observance of Earth Week.

Fair Fest

The Minnesota Public Interest Research Group (MPIRG) will hold a Ten Thousand Villages sale, offering fair trade, sustainable, artisan products, Monday through Friday, April 23-27, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in Oyate Hall's Alumni Room and the Campus Mall. Examples of products may be seen at http://www.

Film: No Impact Man

MPIRG will screen No Impact Man on Tuesday, April 24, at 7 p.m. in the Science and Math Auditorium, Room 2950. The 2009 documentary (93 mins.) follows the Manhattan-based Beavan family as they abandon their high consumption 5th Avenue lifestyle and try to live a year while making no net environmental impact. Free and open to the public.

Film: Reefer Madness

Morris NORML will screen Reefer Madness, also known as "Tell Your Children," on Tuesday, April 24, at 9 p.m. in Imholte Hall 109. The 1936 film is a cautionary tale featuring a fictionalized and highly exaggerated take on the use of marijuana.

Jazz Combo Concert

On Tuesday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall, come enjoy an evening of fine jazz by our campus combos.

Jane Addams Project Meeting

Bringing the University, Morris area, and Hispanic communities together, the community-building project "Jane Addams" will continue to meet on Tuesday evenings throughout the spring term. This week's meeting is on Tuesday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m. in Imholte Hall 111.

Meiningens Theatre Production: Medea

Meiningens Student Theatre Group will present Euripides' Medea as the final production of the 2011-2012 Public Enemy #1 season on April 26-28 in the Humanities Fine Arts Black Box Theatre. This classical Greek piece explores the nuances of love and hatred in the search for justice. It blurs the lines between good and bad, right and wrong, and offers dark commentary on the underlying question, "Who is at fault?"

Speaker: Colin DeYoung

The Psychology discipline presents Colin DeYoung, assistant professor of psychology at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, speaking on "Personality Neuroscience: Exploring the Biological Basis of Traits" on Friday, April 27, at 11:45 a.m. in Science and Math, Room 2200. DeYoung's research delves into questions of how individual differences in brain function produce individual differences in personality.

Asian Awareness Week: Movie Night

In observance of Asian Awareness Week, the Asian Student Association will screen a film produced in Asia on Friday, April 27, at 7 p.m. in the Science and Math Auditorium, room 2950.

CAC Films Presents: Run Lola Run

The Campus Activities Council (CAC) will show Run Lola Run on Friday, April 27, at 9:30 p.m. in Edson Auditorium. The 1999 German film portrays a young woman in Germany who has twenty minutes to find and bring 100,000 Deutschmarks to her boyfriend before he robs a supermarket.

Tinman Triathlon

The 28th Annual Tinman Triathlon begins on Saturday, April 28, at 9 a.m. at the Regional Fitness Center. Join Morris alumni and friends for a 1k swim, 30k bike ride, and 10k run to test your fitness and endurance! Participants must have preregistered.

Asian Awareness Week: Taste of Asia

Enjoy Asian food, culture, and entertainment on Saturday, April 28, at 6 p.m. in the Student Center's Oyate Hall.

CAC Concerts: Battle of the Bands

The Campus Activities Council (CAC) presents the Battle of the Bands on Saturday, April 28, at 9 p.m. in Edson Auditorium. Performing on this evening are: Nuclear Paradise, For What It's Worth, Stay Positive, Broodmother, Bertram and the Itinerant Man Eaters, Baby Loves Head Rub, Josh Preston, Nietzsche's Cardigan and the Anonymous 6.
