The Friends of the Morris Public Library have arranged and sponsored a Writer's Workshop with UMM Professor, David Ericksen. This is a two-part workshop which will explore the art of creative writing, Wednesdays, Feb. 22 and 29 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the library meeting room. There is no fee to attend, but the class is limited to 15 participants. There is a sign-up sheet in the library.

Thanks to the efforts of Tammy Smith and Sharon Ehlers, we are pleased and excited to announce that the Morris Public Library is one of 26 libraries in the Midwest to receive the IEEE (Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Science Kits for Public Libraries Grant. The grant includes seven kits which include information and equipment to perform science activities including: Energy Lab, Van de Graaf Generator, Straw Rocket Launcher, Snap Circuits, Electronics Projects Lab, Early Structures, and Early Simple Machines. The kits are being assembled now and will be available soon for check-out. Stay tuned for additional information.

Please welcome new board members, Julie Monroe and Esther Jordan to the Library Board. Library board directors for 2012 include: LaVerne Swanson, Chair, Jayne Blodgett, Eric Buchanan, Esther Jordan, Michael Lair, Julie Monroe, Darlene Pasche, Ruth Roquitte and Shana Ulrich. It is the Board who sets library policy and direction.

The library display case for February features a collection of items to celebrate Valentine's Day. If you have items that would make an interesting display, contact the library, 320-589-1634 to reserve the display case.

The library is closed Monday, Feb. 20 for the Presidents' Day holiday.
