Film Series

Morris Feminists will screen a film in its Feminism and its Intersections film series on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. in Imholte Hall 109.


Shawn Lawrence Otto, a science advocate and humanitarian, will speak on "Can Democracy Survive the Assault on Science?" on Thursday, Jan. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the HFA Recital Hall. A reception and book signing will be held immediately afterward. An author and activist, Otto is well known as a speaker on the world's major unsolved challenges that revolve around science. His talk, free and open to the public, will also be streamed live from the "Morris on demand" web page

Open Mic Night

Thursday, Jan. 26, is Open Mic Night at the Turtle Mountain Café, beginning at 9:30 p.m.

CAC Films

The Campus Activities Council presents Space Jam on Friday, Jan. 27, at 9:30 p.m. in the Science and Math Auditorium.

Performing Arts Series: Step Afrika

The Step Afrika dance troupe will perform in Edson Auditorium on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 7:30 p.m. While the art form of "stepping" is universal, Step Afrika embraces a unique tradition that grew out of the song and dance rituals practiced by historically African American fraternities and sororities in the early 1900s, using the body as an instrument to create intricate rhythms and sounds through a combination of footsteps, claps, and spoken word. Step Master Class

In addition to the evening performance, Step Afrika will present a Step Master Class on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 11 a.m. until noon in HFA 125. The class is free and open to the public.
