Jonah Henry Hoffman was born on Thursday, Jan. 11, at Stevens Community Medical Center as the New Year's Baby for 2018 in Stevens County. Jonah is the son of Taryn and Brice Hoffman of Graceville. He weighed 6 pounds and 13 ounces and is 20 inches long.

His has a sister Ariah, 2. The Hoffmans receive the prizes donated by sponsors throughout the county in a contest also sponsored by the Stevens County Times.

The Hoffmans said having the New Year's Baby was unexpected. "I had false labor pains on Dec. 26, 27 and 28. Our bags have been packed for two weeks," Taryn Hoffman said.

Their daughter was also born at SCMC. Midwife Paige Hardy was the health care provider for both pregnancies. Hardy is the main reason they chose SCMC, Taryn Hoffman said.

"We heard good things with our first baby," Brice Hoffman said.

"I had a good delivery with our first," Taryn Hoffman said.

Jonah's grandparents are: Jay and Janet Ward and Tim and Carol Hoffman. His great-grandparents are: Rita Bauer, Bob and Darlene Ward and Shirley Hoffman.
