Donnelly News

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.

The weather during the past week has been more fall-like with some cool temperatures and cold winds. Most of the corn fields in the area have been harvested and many have also been worked up for the year.

In news from the St. John's/Kongsvinger parish: the confirmation servant event of collecting clothes for Churches United in Moorhead will continue until Oct. 29. They are also collecting non-perishable food items and financial donations for the Salvation Army. You may drop your items off at the parish office labeled for them.

There will be joint services at Kongsvinger on Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. with the Sunday school kids singing.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church news: Services are at 9 a.m. followed by coffee hour. Sunday school is at 10:30 a.m. While the kids are in Sunday school, the adults have Bible study in the sanctuary.

The community Halloween party will be held on Oct. 31 at the Donnelly hall beginning with games at 5:30 p.m. and costume judging at 6 pm. Light lunch to follow. Everyone is welcome. For more information call 246-3451

First Lutheran Church of Morris will have a Scandinavian supper and silent auction on Nov. 2 from 4-7 p.m. Advance sale tickets are available at the church office.

The Stevens County Genealogical Society will meet on Nov. 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the library.

An overflow crowd of friends and family attended the memorial service for John "Jack" Kleinhans on Oct. 14. That evening, many of us from the area attended the visitation for Irene Kill.

Walt Biesterfeld and I attended the Morris Area school board meeting at the Donnelly Hall on Oct. 17.

Nathan Gerald Olson and Olivia Elaine Olson were born on July 25, 2011 at Albany to Tim and Shannon Olson of Albany. Grandparents are Jerry and Fran Altrich of Donnelly and Allen and Joyce Olson of Donnelly.

Ron Woolridge of Morris passed away on Oct. 15. Among the family members who survive him are a sister Corinne Flaten and her family.

Josh Erdahl and Kayla Harstad were married on Oct. 8. Josh's parents are Steve and Sue Erdahl-Nelson, and his grandmother is Bernice Erdahl. Kayla's father is Jeff Harstad.

Bryan Taffe and Becky Smith were united in marriage on July 23. The bride is the daughter of Richard and Suzanne Smith. Her grandmother is Pauline Smith, Jim and Lou Eystad again helped out at the Arc bazaar on Oct. 19.
