Kindergarten: We have had a great start to school! We are learning so much already and are excited about each day! This week we learned the word can. We already know how to read a book! We are looking forward to the Septemberfest.

Grade 1: First grade is off to a FANTASTIC start! We have been very busy reviewing our reading skills we learned in kindergarten. We are learning about number partners in math - numbers that go together to make a larger number. We learned about bus safety and rules in social studies.

Grade 2: The second graders are settling into our school routine this week. In Math class we are working on addition facts to 10 and on adding on from ten to make a number up to 20. We are studying plant life and seeds in science class. We learned that a plant needs water, sunlight and minerals from the soil to grow. Using water color paints to create pictures of something we did this summer was fun.

Grade 3: It has been a great start to the new school year. We are enjoying our new reading series and are using some of the Daily 5 reading techniques in our classroom as well. In math we are doing lots of work with place value and we are practicing several grouping methods in addition. We did our AIMS reading fluency testing this week and reviewed our bus safety rules and responsibilities with Deanne on Tuesday.

Grade 4: We have had a fabulous start to our school year. We have been working on gaining stamina in our independent reading. We have also learned new ways to improve our comprehension skills in our reading. In math class we are reviewing our adding and subtracting and our dividing and multiplying skills.

Grade 5: We have had a busy and fun-filled start to the school year. We have been reviewing our multiplication and division facts in math class. We have also started talking about the commutative property of multiplication. In reading we have been working on comprehension strategies.

Grade 6: Our school year is off to a great start. We have been busy getting into a routine and learning what 6th grade is all about. On Friday we took our first field trip of the year to the Waterfest in Glenwood. This Sunday (Sept. 18) come and join us for carnival games, dunk tank, and bingo at Septemberfest.
