Kim Ukura named Sun Tribune editor
Kim Ukura has been named editor of the Morris Sun Tribune.
Ukura graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris in 2008 with a degree in English with a concentration in journalism. While at UMM, Ukura worked for both The University Register and The Counterweight, as well as with the Center for Small Towns. She also interned with the Sun Tribune for a year, covering the county commissioners and feature stories.
After graduation, Ukura headed to the University of Wisconsin, Madison, for her master's in journalism, specializing in community and local reporting while working for The Capital Times, Madison's weekly news magazine. She has most recently worked at a trade magazine for design engineers in the manufacturing sector.
"I am delighted that Kim will return the Morris Sun Tribune as editor. She has passion for community news, a familiarity with Morris and UMM and is an excellent writer," said Sun Tribune publisher Sue Dieter.
Ukura officially begins her duties at the Sun Tribune on Monday, Aug. 15.
Ukura replaces Tom Larson, who was named Sports Editor at the West Central Tribune in Willmar after serving 7 years as editor of the Sun Tribune.
