Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.

I want to wish my Dad a happy Father's day up in Heaven.

Many farmers in the area took advantage of the dry conditions during the past week to get more fields planted. Others were busy spraying and some were putting up hay.

St. John's/Kongsvinger parish news: There will be joint services at 8:30 a.m. on June 26 at St. John's. Please note this is a change from what was announced in the summer schedule.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church news: June 19 is new member Sunday. There will be a dedication service for the church on June 26 at 9 a.m. followed by a program to honor the past and look to the future. There will be a meal and fellowship to follow. Everyone is invited to participate, especially former members and pastors.

There are Little League games at Aanerud Field on Mondays and Tuesdays at 6 p.m. until June 21 with the Rendsville 4-H serving lunch. Women's softball games are scheduled at Aanerud Field on June 22, 23, and 29 and July 6. The Tri County horseshoe league also has games at the court in Donnelly on Tuesday evenings.

Colleen Kloos of Hoffman passed away on June 9. Survivors include her husband Lawrence.

Harriet Rice of Morris passed away on June 12. A nephew Darryl (Bev) Gulbrandson is among the family who survives her.

Irene Pasche of Red Wing passed away on May 31. A sister-in-law Esther Pasche is among the family members who survive her.

Estelle Griffen of Anoka passed away on June 4. Among the family members who survive her are her sisters, Ruth Moerke and Marvel Wagner.

Brady Derek Woodke was born on June 1 to Derek and Elysia Woodke of Hoffman. Grandparents are Steve and Molly Woodke from Morris and Bruce Riedner of Morris and Cindy Riedner of Morris. Great grandparents are Irene Riedner of Alberta and Bob and Dorothy Eisel from Donnelly.

Congratulations to Levin Strand, who recently finished his elementary years at Herman-Norcross without missing a day. He also won an award for perfect spelling for the sixth grade.

Congratulations to Brianna Neuman who recently graduated from North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton and to Tracey Kopel who graduated from Minnesota State University-Moorhead.

Congratulations to Samantha Larson who made the A honor roll at Herman-Norcross High School.

Congratulations to Hope Sperr who recently won a national certificate in the national piano playing auditions.

Congratulations to Morris junior varsity baseball team that recently finished an undefeated season. Chandler Erickson, Tom Holland, and Tyler Henrichs are members of that team.

Congratulations to Ryan Beyer who was recently named to the Lions all state all-star baseball team.

The Morris area elementary school's award program was held recently. Among those receiving awards were Brady Loge (Ryan and Jill), Miranda Papesh (Mark and Michelle), Brady Cardwell (Doug and Muriel), Kaman Speer (Duane and Lori), Kellen Erdahl (Brian and Ann), Morgan Biesterfeld (Walt and Kathi), Mason Dunn (Lowell and sandy) and Dakota Leupke (Alan and Mary Uphoff)

On June 9, I attended the Kiwanis talent contest in Morris. Laura Kuhn was the winner. En route home I stopped at Aanerud Field to watch some of the women's softball game.

Jim and Lou Eystad attended the music concert in Hoffman on June 9. Carrie and Kellie Wilts were participants in it.

The Threshing bee royalty participated in the fashion show held at the West Wind Village in Morris on June 8. I understand they did a very good job and were asked to come back again next year.

John, Jack and Joan Kopacek and I attended the open house at Glacial Lakes state park by Starbuck on June 1. Later Bev Larson participated in the Cyrus Days parade, and Logan Mau and Baily Armstrong represented Donnelly in the Chokio parade. En route home I stopped to visit Delano and Linda Meyer at their rural Donnelly home.

Bryan Gilbertson and I attended the sing-a-long at the Eden Reformed Church in Herman on June 12. Afterwards I visited Selma Bruse at the Pullman House.

A good crowd was on hand for the Little League game at Aanerud Field on June 12 and the ice cream social at the hall afterwards. After the social it was time for the Community Club meeting as we continue to make plans for the Bee. It will be held on Aug. 27 and 28. This year's feature will be John Deere.

Despite the rainy weather a good crowd was on hand in Benson on June 14 for the Pioneerland Band Festival. Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg won the people's choice award and Mankato won the grand championship.
