After its journey from rural Appleton, Good Shepherd will be dedicated June 26
The dedication for the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is Sunday, June 26.
Good Shepherd's new pastor, Michael Hanson, will lead a 9 a.m. worship service.
A program of the church follows the service at 10 a.m., and a lunch will be served after the program.
The church was formerly in rural Appleton, but parish members purchased and moved the church to the Morris area last fall. An addition was built and eventually the parcel, which was donated, will have a paved parking lot.
Hanson started his new job last month. A Hoffman native, Hanson worked as a chaplain for Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck and the Glenwood Retirement Village for 1-1/2 years before joining Good Shepherd.
"This is a nice fit," Hanson said. "It wasn't something I was necessarily thinking about, but (Good Shepherd) asked if I'd consider it, so I thought about it and prayed and went from there."
Hanson, 34, attended Moorhead State, Texas Lutheran and Luther Seminary. He worked for 3-1/2 years at Clarkfield Lutheran Church before joining the Glenwood and Starbuck homes.
Hanson's wife, Martha (Spohr) is a Morris native and they have two children, Charlie, 4-1/2 years, and Arne, 9 months.
