Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.

The advent of sunny warm temperatures during the past few days means that most of the snow is gone and the grass is starting to green up. It is still very wet and it will be a while before field work can start.

In news from the St. John's/Kongsvinger Parish: There will be joint services at Kongsvinger on Palm Sunday at 11 a.m. with the Sunday school kids singing. Services on Easter Sunday will be at 8:30 a.m. at St. John's and 11 a.m. at Kongsvinger. There will not be Sunday school.

St. John's spring fling is today (Saturday) from 10:30 a.m. -1 p.m.

There will again be an Easter lily garden in the parish this year. There are sign-up sheets in the narthex of each church or you may contact the parish office to order one. You may also purchase one yourself and if you wish you can designate your Lily to be donated to a nursing home or women's shelter

Baccalaureate Sunday will be May 22. If you have a graduate in your family this year please let the parish office know so it can be included in the May newsletter.

In news from the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church: Palm Sunday services will be held at the church site at 9 a.m.

The Federated Church will have their This and That Sale today (Saturday) beginning at 9 a.m.

The Glacial Ridge Conference for the Women of the ELCA spring gathering will be held on April 25 at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck beginning with registration at 4:30 p.m. For more information or to share rides contact the parish office or call 677-2784.

Faith Lutheran Church in Morris will have a rummage sale on April 27.

The Stevens County Republican party will meet on April 25 at DeToy's in Morris at 6:15 p.m.

Mary Jipson of Chokio passed away on April 8. Among the family members who survive her is a sister, Shirley Henrichs and her family.

Emil Haack of Hoffman passed away on April 6. Among the family members who survive him are a sister, Arlene Gulbrandson and her family.

Roy Johnson of Kensington passed away on April 5. Among is survivors is a great granddaughter Kayla (Aaron) Erdahl of Donnelly.

Correction: Eugene Carlin of Nevada passed away on Dec. 25.

Congratulations to Keaton Long and Tristan Raths, who as members of the West Central Area Little Knights wrestling team competed at the state tournament in Rochester. Tristan placed 6th and Keaton won once and lost twice.

Congratulations to the Wheaton-Herman-Norcross "16s" JO volleyball team that took first place at the UMM tournament on April 2. Samantha Larson is a member of that team. She was also one of the members of the Herman-Norcross FCCLN chapter that earned medals at the Region 6 star event at Barnesville qualifying her for a trip to the state convention.

Congratulations to Danny Ennen who won a motorcycle at Grant County Choppers' open house in Herman.

The Morris FFA had their annual awards night on April 4. Sami Searle, Brady Jergenson, Kendra Sperr and Natalie Johnston were among those recognized for their work during the past year. Kaitlin Van Horn was elected as secretary for the next year.

The Stevens County Genealogical Society's next meeting is on May 5.

Wally McCollar and I attended the funeral or Walt Hokanson at First Lutheran Church on April 9. After the funeral I travel out to the site of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church to see the progress being made out there. Later in the afternoon I attended the birthday party for Ron Carlson. In the evening, Jim and Lorraine Aanerud and I attended the Two by Four family band performance at the Morris Area Elementary concert hall.

Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended services at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on April 10. Afterwards the council served cake made by Irene Strand of Donnelly in honor of the church's first birthday. That evening several friends and family helped Lou celebrate her birthday.
