Firearms safety classes offered for youth, adults in Stevens County
Firearms safety classes are being offered for youth and adults who have not taken the necessary training. You must be at least 11 years old to attend the classes. Receiving this safety certification meets your requirement for obtaining a hunting license in Minnesota and other states.
You now have two options for taking a firearms safety class.
The traditional class: consisting of multiple nights of classroom instruction and a field day.
Or an on-line Course: consisting of on-line course work, an exam/class, and a comprehensive field day.
Traditional classes will be held:
In Hancock, starting on March 24. Contact Bruce Malo to preregister at 320-392-5597.
In Chokio, starting in April. Contact Shaun McNally to preregister at 320-324-7263.
The on-line course :
Start now! You can complete your on-line course at any time. Go to the Minnesota DNR website, education/safety tab and follow the link to HunterExam.com. You must have completed the on-line course and printed your voucher before attending an exam/class and field day.
In Morris the exam/class will be held on Thursday, May 19 from 7-9 p.m. and the field day on Saturday, May 21 9-12 noon.
This exam/class and field day will be limited to the first 50 students.

These classes are offered only once per calendar year in Stevens County.
