Mazinaatesijigan gekinoo'amaadiwin Film Series (Films with Knowledge)

Film screening on Thursday, Feb. 10, at 6 p.m. in Imholte Hall 109. For much of the 20th century, American Indian identities were shaped, at least in popular culture and public imaginations, by advertising imagery, Edward Curtis photographs, and Wild West shows. In the past few decades, American Indian artists and filmmakers have extracted their own image from these external forces, challenging the established codes of representation. The goal of the Film Series is to re-educate its audience through the use of film to examine and discuss the issues of culture, identity and stereotypes of American Indian people.

PY&G airs Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. January through April, with rebroadcasts Mondays at 1 p.m. and Saturdays at 4:30 p.m.

Recent Tragic Events performs in the Humanities Fine Arts (HFA) Black Box Theatre Feb. 10-12. Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday.
