Pre/K News:

The preschool and kindergarten classroom worked on the days of the week. We read the story Cookies Week, which finds a kitty getting in all kinds of trouble each day of the week. The students made their own stories about Cookie. In math we are working on addition and subtraction stories along with nonstandard measurements.

First and Second Grade News:

We were all very excited to come back to school and had many stories about their winter break. Each child thought of a personal goal to start the year. We would like to share a few with you.

Stop yelling at my little sister. - Kylie

Stop biting my nails. - Julia and Korbin

Work harder at hockey. - Autumn

Stop saying bad words. - Matthew

Help other friends. - Cody

Don't play with fire. - Travis

Third and Fourth News:

Our first week back from the holiday vacation has been a busy one! In math, we are practicing compatible numbers, fractions, and our favorite, long division. In Social Studies, we are getting close to the end of our trip around the world. We stopped in Egypt to make hand made papyrus (paper), and today we flew to Italy to learn about the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Did you know that at the top of the tower it leans over 12 feet 10 inches? We made leaning structures out of toothpicks and mini marshmallows, but it was hard to keep them from tipping over.

Fifth and Sixth News:

This week the fifth and sixth grade students have been learning more about Minnesota and what makes our state unique. We have explored all of Minnesota's favorites from muffins to loons. We will be exploring the Dakota and Ojibwe people next. We have had a lot of fun exploring what makes our state unique.
