UPDATED: Farrell presentation postponed due to weather

Due to expected severe winter weather, the Chris Farrell University of Minnesota, Morris public presentation scheduled for tonight at 7:30 p.m. has been postponed.

Chris Farrell, the author of The New Frugality: How to Consume Less, Save More, and Live Better, will visit the University of Minnesota, Morris on Nov. 29 and 30, 2010. The economics editor for "Marketplace," heard on National Public Radio, Farrell will give a free public presentation at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Center's Edson Auditorium on Monday, Nov. 29. A book signing and reception follow in Oyate Hall.

Farrell's presentation will focus on the "philosophy and techniques of living frugally." He advocates living "modestly," but not "cheaply," and will share innovative solutions and new financial models.

"Going green" is part of Farrell's message and fiscal solution. His Morris visit will include a "green tour" of campus energy, conservation, and recycling efforts. He will interact with students and faculty to learn about research projects, academic courses, and programs.

An award winning journalist, Farrell is a regular contributor to Marketplace Morning Report and chief economics correspondent for American Public Media's documentary unit, American Radio Works and Minnesota Public Radio. He writes for Business Week magazine and is a weekly columnist in the Star Tribune. In addition to The New Frugality, Farrell is also the author of Right on the Money: Taking Control of Your Personal Finances and Deflation: What Happens When Prices Fall. He is the recipient of the National Magazine Award, two Loeb Awards and the Edward R. Murrow Award. Farrell is a graduate of the London School of Economics and Stanford University.
