Donnelly News

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, I have an early deadline next week. I will check my boxes on Monday afternoon and will send my news to the paper on Tuesday afternoon.

Due to some cell phone problems I now have a new cell phone number: 320-288-8692.

The weather has been cloudy and cool during the last week with a few snow flurries. Thankfully we did not get the amount of snow some other areas did. Farm work is pretty much done for the year around here.

In parish news from St. John's/Kongsvinger: The fall festival will be held at Kongsvinger on Nov. 21 from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. at Kongsvinger. New on the menu this year is pork chops. Tickets will be available at the door.

Because of the fall festival, Nov. 21 services at Kongsvinger will be 8:30 a.m. and at 11 a.m. at St. John's.

Parish Bible study will be held on Dec. 1 and 9. Studies will be at St. John's from 10:30 a.m. -11:30 a.m. and from 7-8 p.m. at Kongsvinger.

Thanksgiving eve services will be held at St. John's at 7 p.m. on Nov. 24.

Advent decorating will be done at St. John's on Nov. 26 at 1 p.m.

Community Thanksgiving dinners will be served at the Assumption Catholic Church in Morris from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and at the United Methodist Church in Herman from noon to 1 p.m. on Nov. 25.

June Holck of Paulina, Iowa, passed away recently. Among her survivors is her sister, Marlys Alm of Morris, formerly of Donnelly. 

As you are getting your Christmas trees and decorations out of storage please remember the 2nd annual Holidazzle Trim-a-Tree event will be held on Dec. 4 and 5 at the Donnelly hall. The deadline to enter a tree is Nov. 28.

Congratulations to the Hancock Owls volleyball team that recently won the subsection tournament. Tara Flatten (Jeff and Christine) is a member of that team.

Enroute home from Morris on Nov. 8 I visited my aunt, Pearl A. Anderson in Donnelly.

Jim and Lou Eystad attended the funeral for her aunt, Milla LeSage in Morris on Nov. 11.

Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church worship services in Morris on Nov. 14. In the afternoon, Pat Smith and I attended the Hanning Family concert in Herman. After the concert I visited Selma Bruse at her apartment in Herman.

The Donnelly Community Club held their last meeting of the year on Nov. 15t We discussed ideas for future Bees and other events. Santa will stop in Donnelly on Dec. 11.

After the meeting I visited with Jim and Lou Eystad at their home. Earlier in the day I visited my cousin Bev Hurlbut at Legacy Living.

On Nov. 17, Elaine Harstad and I attended Bible study at St. John's. In the afternoon, I visited Verna Rinkenberger in Morris. She recently became a great-great grandma. Enroute home I stopped at the site of

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church to look at the construction progress. They are busy working on the foundation for the fellowship hall.
