Tiger Beat

A note from Principal Mike Coquyt -

This past week the 7-12 students and teachers practiced a Segmented Evacuation Drill. One of the major changes made to our Safety Plan for 2010-11 is that the 7-12 students will relocate to the University of Minnesota, Morris gymnasium. In the past, students had been bused or walked to various churches in the community. When the students arrived at the University, our School Resource Officer, Anita Liebl and Mr. Coquyt talked with them about the importance of practicing these drills, what events might cause us to evacuate the school, and answered any questions the students had for Officer Liebl or me. We also stressed the importance of being respectful to the university faculty, staff, and students once we arrive on campus. As a school district, we must practice five fire drills and four safety drills per year. We will also be participating in the statewide tornado drill during Severe Weather Awareness Week.
