The weather has been virtually a repeat of last week with mild temperatures and several rain showers. So far the crops are looking good.

In news from the St. John's/Kongsvinger Parish: The June parish newsletter is now out and extra copies are available in the narthex of each church.

The summer worship schedule is now in effect. Copies of the summer schedule were included in the May newsletter and are posted at each church. Extra copies are available at the parish office.

West Central Lutherans invite you to another open worship service at the Hancock Community Center at 10 a.m. on June 13. In July, weekly services will be held in the Cougar Room at the Prairie Inn in Morris. Fund raising is under way to purchase land to move the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church building from rural Appleton to Morris.

A bridal shower for Adam Erickson (son of Mark and Deb) and Katie Braaten will be held on June 19 from 10-11:30 am at the Kongsvinger Parish Hall.

West Central Minnesota Community Action is looking for volunteers to help out with their group work camp coming up in mid July. They are also in need of ladders that they can use for the week. For more information, call 1-800-492-4805.

There will be Little League games at Aanerud Field in Donnelly at 6 p.m. on June 14, 15, 21 and 22.   There will also be women's softball games on June 17 and 28 at 7 p.m. and on July 1 at 7:15 p.m. The Rendsville 4-H will be manning the concession stand.

There will be an open house 80th birthday for Bill Dripps today (Saturday) at Heartland Motor Company, Morris, 4 to 8 p.m.

Monday, June 14 is Flag Day. Learning Unlimited will sponsor "Pizazz in the Park" which will be held at 6 p.m. at East Side Park.

Tony Wernsing and Rachel Fosberg of Monticello announce their engagement. Tony's parents are Dennis and Karleen (Backen) Wernsing of Chokio.

Congratulations go out this week to the Lyrical Trio dancers who won the Kiwanis talent show on June 5. Beth Holland and Sydney Beyer are members of that trio.

Congratulations to Jenna Moser for winning the Lester Erickson and H. W. Herbison Scholarship at North Dakota State University.

Holly Varnum won one gold and two silver awards at the Federation of Central Minnesota Addy Awards competition. She is a student at Alexandria Technical College.

Brandi Speer recently won a scholarship in Winnfield Solutions LLC's Careers in Ag Scholarship program. She is a student at Southwest Minnesota State. She also recently became a student intern at the County Extension Service 4-H program.

Ruth Moerke was recently recognized for 55 years of service to GFWC Students Club.

Students of the quarter at MAHS include Natalie Johnson (extra mile award) for the Junior class and John Huebner (citizenship) for the 7th grade.

Nichole Gillespie received winning scholarships from Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio; the Chokio Study Club; Dorweiler;            Vogt Technical; Gladys Johnson and the Graceville Health Center

Christine Bahr recently graduated from Alexandria Technical College. She is the daughter of Scott and Kathy.

Sarah Burke recently graduated from the College of St. Benedict. She is the daughter of Pat and Carol.

Tom Holland and Michael Michaelson received their Eagle Scout awards in a ceremony held Sunday at the First Lutheran Church in Morris.

The Kopacek family and I attended the Agralite annual meeting in Benson on June 5.

Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the WordAlone meeting on June 5. The next meeting will be on Aug. 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson.

En route to the meeting I stopped by Frank's annual rummage sale in Donnelly.

Danny and Mark Frank, Laurie Hoffer, and Gail Gibson and family spent some time this past weekend helping out with the annual family rummage sale and visiting family and friends in the area.

Pearl Amundson spent some time this week visiting her brother Chester (Gloria) Larson and other family and friends in the area.

Following the baseball and softball games at Aanerud Field on June 7, the ice cream social was held at the town hall. Thanks to the Threshing Bee royalty for serving the ice cream and the Rendsville 4-H for all the delicious pies they made and sold.

After the social, the monthly meeting of the Donnelly Community club was held. We continue to make plans for the Threshing Bee and upkeep and maintenance of our buildings.
