Phyllis' Fixin's

I like to make these simple breakfast sweet rolls, starting with tubes of biscuits or taking a loaf of frozen bread dough, thawing and rolling that out, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, rolling it back up, cutting into individual rolls, placing them into a pan, make a caramel topping, pour over and bake. Simple enough? Even simple enough for me! All these recipes came from local cookbooks.

Easy Orange Rolls

1/2 C. orange marmalade

1/2 C. chopped nuts

1/2 C. butter, melted

1/2 C. brown sugar

1/2 tsp. cinnamon

2 cans Pillsbury® biscuits

Grease a bundt or ring pan with butter. Spread marmalade on the bottom of pan and sprinkle nuts in. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Melt butter. Take biscuits out of cans, separate and dip each biscuit in melted butter, then in the cinnamon and sugar mix. Stand the biscuit on edge until all are used. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Cool 5 minutes in pan, then turn out onto a plate.

Quick Caramel Rolls

2 loaves frozen bread dough

1 stick margarine or butter

1 C. brown sugar

1 pkg. vanilla pudding (not instant)

Slice and lay partially thawed dough in greased 9x13 pan. Melt butter or margarine and add brown sugar and pudding mix. Pour over bread dough. Let rise overnight or until doubled in size. Bake 25 minutes at 350°.

Going through chemotherapy right now, this little tidbit gave me a laugh:

"Doctor, Doctor, my hair keeps falling out, can't you give me something to keep it in?"

"Yes, here is a paper bag."

Caramel Pull-Aparts

2 loaves frozen bread dough, thawed- not raised

1 small box vanilla pudding, not instant

1 C. brown sugar

2 T. milk

1/2 C. butter

1 tsp. cinnamon

Grease a 9x13 inch pan. Tear 1 loaf of dough into pieces and place evenly in the pan. Melt the butter and add remaining ingredients. Stir until smooth and pour over dough in the pan. Tear other loaf into pieces and fill the holes. Let rise. Bake at 350° for 15-20 minutes. Let stand a few minutes before removing from the pan.

Best-Ever Caramel Rolls

3 (7.5 oz.) tubes Pillsbury® biscuits

1/2 stick butter

1 C. brown sugar

1 C. vanilla ice cream

Layer biscuits in a 9x13 inch greased pan. MELT TOGETHER the other ingredients and pour over biscuits. Bake 10-20 minutes at 350°, or until light brown on top.
