Osakis police website asks for help with crime tips

The Osakis Police Department (OPD) is online and it wants you to get involved. The website, offers information on its officers, community programs and ordinances.

The ordinance section offers residents the opportunity to view specific ordinances from their own computer.

The site also has links to services - online forms for burning permits and vacation house checks - and other web sites.

An interesting interactive feature of the website is Help Solve It - where the department lists crimes, asking for your help in solving them.

For example, on December 11, the OPD received a theft report of two snowmobiles and a golf cart trailer taken from Central Auto in Osakis.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call the OPD - even anonymous tips will be taken - at (320) 859-2550.

Osakis Police Chief Mark Gilson said the website fits in with the police department's mission to maintain a partnership with the community by offering an opportunity for citizen involvement.
