Area Weather: Summer's winding down but where's the warmth?
Does it seem like summer is slipping away? Well, Saturday is already Aug. 1! We are losing about 2-1/2 minutes of daylight each and every day now, and I know many of you are asking; "when is summer going to arrive?"
Temperatures this week have been very much on the cool side. We had record low temperatures Tuesday morning across portions of the area. Both Morris and Appleton had record low temperatures of 48 degrees!
In addition, highs on Thursday were about 10 degrees cooler than average! We should see temperatures more seasonal on Monday, but that will be short-lived as temperatures will cool off by Tuesday and Wednesday. Look on the bright side: We haven't had to use the AC much this summer and it has saved on our electric bills. Have a great weekend!
In 1961 a downpour in Albert Lea brought 6.7 inches of rain in 24 hours.
