The Marv Meyer Walk-Run at the Regional Fitness Center got the 25th annual Prairie Pioneer Days off on the right foot Saturday morning. Chokio native Andy Schuster and his rock band Electric Allmighty ensured the day wouldn't lose momentum when the sun started to set.

Most of the main events of the 25th annual Prairie Pioneer Days celebration began Saturday, starting with the 2K, 5K and 10K walk-run at the RFC. Electric Allmighty and three other bands had the Stevens County Fairgrounds rocking past the customary fireworks display.

In between, artist Victor Perlbachs presented a print of his watercolor of the Morris elevator to the Morris Public Library, kids wore themselves out in myriad games and activities at East Side Park, and a hearty group got themselves a free dinner in the second annual Pasta Eating Contest. In the Family Feud, the Kiwanis beat the Lutherans for the championship.

Sunday's weather was picture-perfect for the Fireman's pancake feed and the Grand Parade.
