• The American Legion Post in Morris is named after Walter Tripp, who died in World War I.

Ted Storck, a Legion member, last summer cleaned up Tripp's stone at Summit Cemetery in honor of Memorial Day. Stork said the Legion plans to take care of the upkeep on the grave and those of family members nearby.

• The Morris Veterans of Foreign Wars Post is named after Charles Leuthard, who was lost at sea in World War II when his ship sunk. A stone marker was placed in his honor at St. Mary's Cemetery in Chokio.

• Morris' AMVETS Post was named in honor of David F. Day, a Morris native and National Guard Staff Sergeant who was killed in Iraq in 2005 while serving with his company.
