Tiger girls golf at home

The 2009 golf season started April 14 for the Morris Area girls' team.

The Tigers, coached by Lana Stahman, is short one player to complete a team score. The three golfers are, however, improving their game as the season progresses.

The first West Central Conference South meet was held at Koronis Hills in Paynesville.

Keli Pry carded a 50, Pam Sax posted a 58, and Cassidy Hennen had a 65.

Minnewaska Area is once again dominating the conference, opening the season with a team score of 167, by capturing five of the top six scores that day. Sarah Roering was the day's medalist with a 39.

On April 21, the Tigers traveled to Atwater where Pry carded a 50, Sax had a 59, and Hennen posted a 68 at the Island Pine Golf Course.

Minnewaska won with a 156, led by Emily Roering with a 36.

At the Olivia Golf Club on April 23, Pry posted a 47, while Sax and Hennen each carded a 62.

Minnewaska's winning score was 162 with Emily Roering leading the Lakers with a 39.

The Tigers were in Appleton on April 30 for the fourth conference meet of the season.

Hennen had a 52 and Sax had a 59.

Emily Roering's 38 led Minnewaska to a 166 win.

The Tigers hosted a conference meet Monday at Pomme de Terre Golf Club. Pry posted a 51 and Hennen carded a 58 at the home course.

Minnewaska's 151 led the nine-team match with Emily Roering shooting a 34.

With Minnewaska leading the standings, Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg and BOLD are neck and neck at second and third place.

Joining Morris Area in a tie for seventh are Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City and Yellow Medicine East, both of which also post incomplete scores.
