Morris boys open track & field with 1st place finish

The Morris Area boys' track and field team got the season off on the right foot taking first place at the Paynesville Bulldog Invitational Thursday.

The Tigers had seven first-place finishes to edge out the home team and second-place finisher by 27 points.

Among the first-place Tiger entries were three relay teams.

The 4X200 team of Steve Sarlette, Taylor Nohl, Corey Nohl, and Lincoln Arnold finished with a time of 1:38.22.

The 4X400 team of Arnold, Corey Nohl, Cody Cannon, and Taylor Nohl, took first with a time of 3:42.3.

Also taking first was the 4X800 team of Matt Wulf, Austin Schieler, Roy Reese, and Stefan Lemke with a time of 9:07.

Arnold was first to cross the finish line in the 200-meter sprint with a time of 23.38.

Taylor Nohl won the 400-meter in 54 seconds.

Reese ran the 3200-meter in 11:20 for first place.

Eric Goette won the pole vault with a height of 10 feet, six inches.

Cannon took second place in the pole vault, also with a 10-6.

Jackson Henrich placed second in the discus with a throw of 126-2.

Josh Love placed second in the shot put with a 45-0.

Wulf crossed the line second in the 800-meter with a time of 2:13.13.

The 4X100 relay team of Sarlette, Tyler Roske, Corey Nohl, and Cory Hennen placed second with a 48.09.

Henrich placed third in two events with a throw of 42-4 in the shot put and a distance of 37-8 in the triple jump.

Cannon also had two third-place finishes running the 110-meter hurdles in 17.12 and the 300 hurdles in 44.12.

Lemke placed third in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:03.

Schieler took fourth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:57.

Hennen placed fifth in the long jump with a distance of 17-6.5.

Love placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 98-5.5.

Hennen took seventh in the high jump with a 5-3.

Roske ran the 200-meter sprint in 24.9 for seventh place.

Roske took eighth in two events with a time of 11.89 in the 100-meter dash and a long jump of 17-0.

Wade Ehlers placed eighth in the discus with a throw of 90-10.

Tristan Michealson placed eighth in the 110-meter hurdles in 19.5 seconds.

Caleb Sanderson ran the 3200-meter in 13:14 for eighth place.
