Athletic award winners named at UM-Morris

The University of Minnesota, Morris athletic award winners have been announced for 2008-2009.

Arnold Henjum Award

The Arnold Henjum Award is given to an outstanding graduating male student-athlete from UMM. This year's award winner is Cougar football player Matt Fragodt of Becker.

A four-year starter at wide receiver, Fragodt helped lead UMM to its first ever Upper Midwest Athletic Conference title in 2006.

Fragodt holds the school record for career touchdowns with 26 and he is sixth in UMM history for most receptions in a single game with nine.

He earned All-Conference honors all four years on the Cougar football team and was named Offensive MVP during his freshman season. Fragodt was named to multiple UMAC Player of the Week lists. He is also the winner of the Steve Chaon Award from this past season.

Willis Kelly Award & Women's Honor Athlete

Allie Betsch is a dual award winner this year having been selected as the University of Minnesota, Morris Willis Kelly Award winner and Women's Honor Athlete Award winner.

The Willis Kelly Award is named for former UMM Athletic Director, Willis Kelly. The award is presented to the outstanding graduating female student-athlete at UMM.

Betsch of New Ulm earned All-Conference honors three times in both Track and Cross Country over her four years. She has also earned Academic All-Conference honors three times in Cross Country and two times in Track. Allie was nominated for the NCAA Postgrad Scholarship and the UMAC Scholar Athlete Award.

She also holds school records in the 4x400 M for outdoor track and the 800 M for indoor track, as well as being the UMAC Conference record holder in the 4x400 M, and fifth all time in the 800 M in the UMAC Conference.

During her career at UMM the Psychology major has earned an impressive 3.96 GPA.

Men's Honor Athlete Award

Scott Harder has been selected as the Men's Honor Athlete Award winner for 2008-2009 at UMM.

Harder of Mountain Lake has been an All-Conference selection in Track and Field, and an Academic All-Conference selection once in Cross Country and twice in Track and Field. He was also nominated for the UMAC Scholar Athlete Award.

Scott is a school record holder in the indoor 4x800 M and conference record holder in the 4x800 M.

As a Pre-Med major Scott has maintained a 3.6 GPA.
