Lemke brings home state meet medals
Stefan Lemke won two medals at the Minnesota Boys' Swimming and Diving Championships March 5-7 at the U of M Aquatic Center.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Lemke's time of 1:47.69 in the preliminary put him in sixth position. The top eight in the prelims swim in the championship finals, while nine through 16 swim in a consolation heat.
In the finals he finished third with a 1:46.56, a personal-best for him and it lowers his own MAHS record time in this event.
Other section 3A finishers were Tom Werner of Dassel-Cokato/Litchfield with a fourth-place 1:46.62 and Andy Johnson of Willmar with an eighth-place time of 1:49.13.
Swimming the 500-yard freestyle, in the preliminary round, Lemke was fifth with a time of 4:59.94 and in the finals he came in fourth with a 4:57.70, a personal-best for him and it lowers his own MAHS record time in this event.
Werner of Dassel-Cokato/Litchfield took seventh place in 5:01.83.
Morris overall finished in 21st place out of 34 teams and out of the 10 Section 3A teams represented, the Stingrays finished seventh.
