Ericksen to compete in Multi-Region Spelling Bee

The Multi-Regional State Spelling Bee will be Thursday, March 12th, at the Bigwood Event Center in Fergus Falls. The champion speller will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.

Peter Ericksen, of Morris, will compete in the multi-regional. Peter is the son of David and Janet Ericksen. Peter placed fourth in the regional Spelling Bee.

Twenty-one students in grades five through eight who were winners at their Regional Bees will compete in the Multi-Regional Spelling Bee.

Awards include the Samuel Louis Sugarman Award Certificate for $100 donated by Mr. Jay Sugarman; a Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, 11th Edition, donated by Merriam-Webster; Webster's Third New International Dictionary donated by Scripps National Spelling Bee; Two $20 gift certificates donated by the Scripps National Spelling Bee; Three one year subscriptions to Encyclopedia Britannica Online, an all expenses paid trip for the winner and one adult to attend the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., donated by the Service Cooperative.
