Storm boys drop final game prior to Sections

Prairie Centre defeated Morris Benson Area 3-2 in the final regular-season game for both teams on Thursday in Long Prairie. With the loss the Storm end the regular season with a record of 11-10-1.

Alex Sinclair got his first start in goal for the Storm, replacing Will Johnson who was out with an injury. Also missing his third consecutive game with an injury was forward Ethan Ratliff-Crain.

Sinclair made eight saves in the period and the North Star goalie Marcus Tomsche made nine as the first period ended in a scoreless tie.

Prairie Centre scored twice in a two-minute span midway into the second period to take the lead.

Dustin Sauter of the Storm cut the lead in half, scoring on a slap shot from just inside the blue line at the 15:23 mark. The teams headed into the second intermission with Prairie Centre leading 2-1.

Each goalie recorded eight saves in the second period.

Sauter tied the game for the Storm just 2:26 into the final period with a goal which was a carbon copy of his goal in the second period.

The tie lasted until the 10:51 mark when Prairie Centre was able to score on a shot from the point and they held on for the 3-2 win.

Sinclair made seven third-period saves for a game total of 23, while Tomsche stopped six in the period, also for a game total of 23.
