Grade 1: We have been working very hard on counting pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. Our new sound for reading was the long "o". We also are learning the names of the month. We each had a joke to read to the class, we did word fines, read a story about the groundhog, and wore crazy socks for "Sock it To Reading Day".

Grade 2: We finished our social studies unit on natural resources and conservation. We will study cultures in different parts of the world. We learned to write the lower case cursive i, t and u. We are having fun with the daily activities we are doing for I Love to Read Month.

Grade 3: February is "I Love to Read" month and we are doing many activities to promote reading at school and home. We are working hard on division as repeated subtraction and relating it to our fact families with multiplication. We continue to work on our "Treasure Books" and have our class project on display in the classroom for the "Celebration for Education" on Feb. 21.

Grade 4: This week we began learning longer multiplication problems in math. We also started a new chapter on the Southeast region of the U.S. We are enjoying "I Love to Read" month, and we are also working on our class project for the Celebration for Education. We will be making ceramic dishes.

Grade 5: We have been working with fractions and finding common denominators, greatest common factors and learning how to put all of these things into their simplest form. We are enjoying "I Love to Read" month and we are excited to wear crazy socks to school for "I Love to Read" month.
