Tiger boys win by 20

The Morris Area boys' basketball team won a second game in row by a score of 65-45. After defeating the Braves at Benson by 20 points on Saturday, the Tigers did it again Tuesday at home against BOLD.

Coach Mark Torgerson said the 65-45 score was the only similarity between the two West Central Conference South games.

While the Tigers played well for all 40 minutes in Benson, Tuesday night the team played well in "spurts " said Torgerson.

"We're looking for more consistency," added Torgerson. "The fact that we finished strong shows that we saved the best for last."

The Tigers led 25-19 at halftime, but BOLD came as close as three points in the second half before the Tigers went on a run to take a 20-point lead at the buzzer.

"BOLD played really well early on, but once we started rebounding and fast breaking we broke open a close game," said Torgerson.

The Tigers had some foul trouble in the first half with three starters sitting on the bench, but still managed to keep the lead.

"This shows our depth," said Torgerson.

The Tigers hit 28 of 55 (50.9 percent) field goals, while the Warriors were only 17-of-55 (30.9 percent).

At the free-throw line the Tigers were 6-of-16. BOLD was 9-of-13.

Chris Scott led the team with 21 points.

Daniel Tiernan and Jackson Henrich had nine points apiece.

Also scoring were Eric Riley with eight, Taylor Nohl with six, Matt Wulf with five, Lincoln Arnold with four, and Josh Love with three.

Riley led in rebounding with 10. Scott grabbed eight and Henrich grabbed seven.

Both Tyler Meichsner and Lincoln Arnold dished out four assists.

Meichsner also recorded three steals.
