Tigers start busy week with 3-2 loss to Eagles

The Morris Area volleyball team fell to Lac qui Parle Valley in a tight five-game match 23-25, 28-26, 18-25, 27-25, and 15-8 on Monday. The Tigers are now 5-4 in the West Central Conference South, but have two opportunities to improve their record this week with scheduled matches against Benson and Montevideo.

"We played a hard-fought match," said coach Becky Hayden. "In games two and four we lost by two, and we had a few unforced errors that cost us those games."

Erin Schieler and Jenna Nelson finished the game with double doubles.

Schieler led the Tigers with 15 kills. She also recorded two ace blocks and 10 digs, while going a perfect 16-of-16 serving.

Nelson led the team with 20 digs. She was 17-of-18 serving with one ace serve. She also recorded 10 kills and one ace block.

The Tigers had 43 set assists from Brianna Neuman. Neuman was 19-of-21 at the serving line with one ace serve. She also recorded two kills and 11 digs.

Heather Gagner was also perfect serving for the Tigers 13-of-13 with one ace serve. She recorded 16 digs.

Mary Rentz had six kills for the Tigers, as well as recording five digs.

Alissa Melberg also had six kills, along with two ace blocks and one dig.

Sara Beyer hit three kills for the Tigers, along with one ace block and two digs.

Dani Staples had one kill and two ace blocks for the Tigers.

Brooke Anderson picked up 12 digs and Kelsey Amundson had 10.
