Tennis team falls to Waska

After a short break, the Morris Area tennis team returned to action with a 6-1 loss to Minnewaska Thursday.

"(This was) a tough match against both a sub-section and conference opponent," said coach Jim Gillis.  "Waska always plays solid aggressive tennis and this match was no exception. Hannah (Estenson) played two consistent sets at fourth singles for her second varsity win."

1st Singles: Minnewaska's Laura Paulson defeated Laura Lou Delehanty 6-0, 6-0.

2nd Singles: Alicia Pfeninger defeated Morris Area's Tabby Sanderson 6-0, 6-0.

3rd Singles: Brittany Mensing defeated Tiger Jenny Hennen 6-0, 6-1.

4th Singles: Morris Area's Hannah Estenson defeated Ellen Stensrud  6-4, 6-4.

1st Doubles: Minnewaska's Breana Jenks/Sarah Faehrich defeated Sam Buro/Mishayla Schreifels 6-1, 6-3.

2nd Doubles: Courtney Thomas/ Aundrea Johnson defeated Tigers Rory Anderson/Rebekah Larsen 6-3, 6-2.

3rd Doubles: Megan Jergensen/Mckensie Fauskee defeated Morris Area's Steph Noel/Pam Sax 6-1, 6-2.

JV Singles: Tiger Krystel Heily defeated Rachel Riley 7-5 5-7 (7-5 tiebreaker)

JV Doubles: Lakers Rachel Gallagher/Morgan Lange defeated Brittany Harrison/Kelsey Schreifels 7-5, 6-1. Tigers Krista Matthews-Saugstad/Marley Morton defeated Kaitlyn Elwood/Amanda Thompson 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 (7-3).
