Legion wins again

The Morris American Legion baseball team improves to 4-0 on the season by defeating West Central Area 9-3 Monday night at Chizek Field.

Kirby Sayles' bases-clearing double off the wall in center field highlighted a four-run first inning.

Matt Wohlers led the Morris offense with three hits including a two-run homer in the second inning that gave Post 29 a 6-3 lead. Wohlers also scored three times.

Darrick Henrichs added two hits and an RBI.

Nate Gades helped his own cause with a two-run homer over the right field fence in the fifth. Gades gave up three unearned runs in the first inning, then settled down after that and allowed just two hits for the rest of the game. He pitched seven innings, allowing five hits with three walks and nine strikeouts.
