Kindergarten: We are working on addition in math and will soon be doing subtraction. We are planning our entire end of the year activities, wow. Track and Field Day was lots of fun and we all did very well. We had a late start on Wednesday and Mrs. Sayles was treated to breakfast at Common Cup along with the rest of the staff for teacher appreciation day!

Grade 1: On Wednesday we went to the West Wind Village to help celebrate National Nursing Home Week. In math class we did two digit subtraction and regrouping from tens to ones. We have been reviewing all the short and long vowel sounds in reading. We are learning about the first settlers in America during social class.

Grade 2: The second graders had a fun learning experience at the wetlands this week. We are finishing our lessons on 3-digit subtraction in Math class and we are looking forward to a basic intro to multiplication before the year ends. Track and Field day was a fun time for everyone and we thank Mrs. Nienhaus and for the parents that volunteered to help us.

Grade 3: We are continuing our work with decimals and have been concentrating on adding and subtracting them. In science we are discussing physical and chemical changes of matter. Tuesday afternoon two students from UMM Science Sensations came to the room and Wednesday, we were at SWELL.

Grade 4: On Tuesday we enjoyed our last field trip of the year to Prairie Wetlands Learning Center in Fergus Falls. That evening many of us stayed at school and cooked a meal for the Seuss family. They bid on our class project for the Celebration for Education. We created and cooked a multi-course Italian meal. Thanks to all the parents that helped!

Grade 5: During science we are learning about the planets, stars, moons, and things in the solar system. In math class we have been studying polygons and area and perimeter. We also did a fun art project on symmetry. We went to Safety Day on Tuesday this week and learned a lot of great safety tips on many different topics. It was a great day.

Grade 6: We are currently working on finding the area of triangles and area and circumference of circles. In English we are writing a research paper with the topics of Judaism, WWII, Holocaust, and Nazis. During Technology we are creating PowerPoint presentations. We continue to share current events. So far we have shared events from 45 of the 50 states.
