Tiger golfers improve over three meets

Despite the unpredictable weather, the Morris Area girls' golf team has completed three more road meets.

On April 19 the Tigers took sixth place at the 13-team Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Invitational.

The Tigers played 18 holes and finished with a score of 494.

Litchfield won the meet with a 400, while the host team came in second with a 405. Willmar placed third with a 407.

For the Tigers' team score, Amy Rudstrom carded a 111 (56, 55). Keli Pry posted a 112 (54, 58). Pam Sax had a 129 (67, 62) and Emma Roberts had a 142 (72, 70).

Kelsey Ross of Osakis was the individual medalist with an 86, six shots ahead of runner-up Kara Maatz of Lac qui Parle Valley.

At the second West Central Conference South meet on April 21, the Tigers took seventh place with a 309.

Minnewaska Area had the top five individual spots to win its second conference meet with a 154. Chelsey Falk and Emily Roering shared medalist honors, each shooting a 38.

Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg came in second with a 206 and BOLD was one stroke behind for third.

For the Tigers, Pry and Cassidy Hennen each posted a 59. Rudstrom carded a 61 and Sax had a 63.

Thursday the Tigers participated in the third conferecne meet hosted by Lac qui Parle Valley in Appleton.

The Tigers moved up to sixth place with a 233.

The Lakers again took first with a 158. While Benson/K-M-S and BOLD each carded a 208, the Braves had the lower fifth scored and took second place.

Pry posted a 53, Rudstrom a 56, Sax a 61, and Hennen a 63.

Sarah Roering of Minnewaska Area took medalist honors with a 38, while teammates Emily Roering and Courtney Boe tied for second with 39.
