Brian Maanum

Funeral services for Brian Michael Maanum, 26, of St. Paul were held Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 at Siloah Lutheran Church in Graceville with Rev. John Ragan officiating.

Brian passed away at his home in St. Paul on Jan. 16, 2008.

Brian was born Feb. 14, 1981 in Benson to Mike Maanum and Joleen (Gary) Backlund. Brian was baptized March 22, 1981, at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Hancock and confirmed on April 27, 1997, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Glyndon.

He graduated from Moorhead High School in 2000, where he was a member of the football and wrestling teams. During his senior year he was selected as one of the football captains.

Brian loved the outdoors - fishing, bow hunting, boating, camping, scuba diving and woodworking.

He is survived by his parents: Mike Maanum of St. Paul, and Joleen and Paul Backlund, Horace, North Dakota; sister Kari Maanum, Horace, North Dakota; grandparents - Toby and Dorothy Maanum, Johnson, and Arline Gary, Graceville; aunts and uncles - Tom and Karen Maanum, Pat and Mona Maanum, LuAnn Walters, Dean and Dana Gary, Mary and Neal Buller, Dan and Carla Gary, Dale and Audrey Gary, Daryl and Ginger Gary, Cindy and Paul Glorvigen, Jan and Jerry Leifgren, Candy and Byron Raynie, and Doug and Kathy Gary; cousins - Marlie Maanum, Charlie Maanum, Sam Maanum, Austin Maanum, Riley Maanum, Alexa Walters, Leah Timberlake, Evan Gary, Ralee Gary, Tyler Buller, Lucas Buller, Chelsea Buller, Liza Gary, Mallory Gary, Eli Gary, Griffin Gary, Amber Gary, Seth Gary, Brandon Gary, Steve Gary, Kris Gary, Amy Gary, Beth Glorvigen, Stacy Johnson, Heather Leifgren, Alyssa Leifgren, Trisha Gary, Shari Gary, and Scott Gary.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Vernon Gary.

Honorary pallbearers were Brian's 29 cousins. Music was provided by organist Tammy Ragan and soloist Deb Omoth.
