Sue's Views: Published with pride

This week is, among other things, National Newspaper Week. Now, being a relative newcomer to this industry, Im not exactly sure what would be the appropriate way to observe and celebrate this week.

I'll start by thanking the staff at the Morris Sun Tribune and Hancock Record. What an outstanding group of professionals! Evelyn Baas, Jennifer Bergerson, Patti Burns, Katie Erdman, Lonna Fulda, Janet Kehoe, Tom Larson, Barb Lienemann, Terry Manney, Heather Storck, Joyce Van Eps and Brian Williams put their best effort into each edition of the paper. I probably dont thank them enough for the tremendous job they do. And before I leave the subject of thanks, I extend my gratitude to our regular contributors, the newspaper carriers and the printing staff. This is a team effort and we've got excellent help.

I also want to thank the advertisers, subscribers and all of our readers. Many of you have offered suggestions and shared your news with us. I also urge you to continue to communicate with us. Each edition includes our phone number, e-mail addresses and our street address. Just for reference, our toll-free telephone number is 1-800-589-2525. My e-mail is Tom Larson's e-mail address is We are located at 108 East Sixth Street in Morris, at the corner of East Sixth and California Avenue. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please consider this an open invitation to call, e-mail or visit us to share your news. Dont ever expect that we already know something. I'd rather have 15 people call and tell us about something coming up than to get even one call asking why we didnt cover something that we didn't know about.

Finally, I want to congratulate the fire fighters, 4-Hers and bank tellers, who are also observing a week of recognition. My, but we have a lot to celebrate, don't we?
