Welcome to the Donnelly news.

After some spring like weather last week it has turned cold again this week and we have some more snow.

In St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: There will be no Sunday school on April 20. On April 27, Sunday school will be held at St. John’s at 9:45 a.m. for the adopted grandparents event.

From Good Shepherd Lutheran Church:  Four 4 young people were confirmed on April 13, Jake Anderson, Jacob Grunklee, Jasmine Luthi, and Briar Peterson.

Faith Lutheran Church of Morris will hold their Spring rummage sale on April 23 starting at 4 p.m.

‘Blessing and a burger,’ sponsored by Faith Lutheran Church will be held at the Diamond Supper Club starting on April 23 at 7 p.m.

On April 24, there will be an ABC sale at Zion Lutheran Church of Morris from 3-7 p.m.

First Lutheran Church will be hosting the missionary family, Rev. Tessa Moon and Jon Leiseth, of  South Africa on April 26, for a supper and a program and on April 27 at both services.  There will be a time for   fellowship between services.

The Great Plains High School choir from Watertown, S.D. will be in concert at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Morris on April 20 at 4 p.m.

Jeanne Ennen announces that the next community mentoring meeting is scheduled for Donnelly on April 22  at the community hall, with additional meetings in Chokio on April 24, and in Alberta on April 29, both at 7 p.m.  Contact her for more info.

There will be an open house bridal shower for Brandi Sperr, bride to be of Justin Johnston, today (Saturday) from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Morris.  

There will be an open house bridal shower in honor of Nicole Daly, bride to be of Anthony Homan on April 26, from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Mary’s Hall in Chokio.  Her parents are Paul and Pam Daly of Donnelly; grandparents Nick and Karen Daly of Chokio  

There will be an open house bridal shower for Fallon Meixel, bride to be of Wade Backman, on Saturday, April 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Pomme de Terre Golf Club.  

An open house bridal shower in honor of Jessica Nohl, bride to be of Taylor Witt will be held on May 3 at the Morris Evangelical Free Church from 9-11 a.m. Her parents are Ray and Tracy (Loge) Nohl.

Gloria Kill of Morris passed away on April 9. Survivors include her nephews Ray (Betty) Kill and Joe (Julie) Kill and their families of Donnelly.

James Squier of Donnelly passed away on April 11.

Vern Erickson of Starbuck passed away on April 13. Survivors include his sister, former Donnelly area resident Marge Kleinhans and her family.

In Tiger basketball awards Bryce Jergenson was named most improved, and honorable mention to the All-West Central conference team.

The Donnelly community club met on April 14 to begin making plans for this year’s Threshing Bee, which is planned for  Aug. 23-24.  This year’s feature is Ford.                                   

Advance tickets are now on sale for the New Wine performances scheduled in May at First Lutheran Church of Morris.

In the past week Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended confirmation services at Good Shepherd Church; Mark Koepke and I attended St. John’s spring fling and vendor/ craft show at the community hall. Also, I attended the community mentoring meeting in Hancock, the Donnelly fire department’s fish fry, the West Central Cattleman’s steak fry, the community hymn sing at Federated Church, the visitation for Gloria Kill, and the visitation and funeral for Ted Dosdall.
