Fun events planned for Homecoming week at HHS

Next week is Homecoming Week at Hancock Public School. Each day there are special activities taking place at the school ending with the homecoming game on Friday night and dance on Saturday night. The theme for the week is “Shiny Silver” featuring the song “Mirrors.”

Monday is pajama day at the school for all grades. The junior high volleyball team will take on Morris at home starting at 4 p.m. The Hancock Commercial Club will hold their annual Soup and Pie Supper at the Hancock Community Center from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

At 7 p.m. the coronation ceremony will begin with the crowning of the king and queen along with skits by the high school classes. The candidates by the grade sponsoring them include: senior class Taylor Holleman and Karol Algarate. Junior class - Jerrid Berning and Samantha Schmidgall. Sophomore class include Alexis Nohl and Adam Sanders. Freshman class are Lincoln Rinkenberger and Samantha Vasek. Junior high candidates are Curtis Utech and Haley Klucas.

Tuesday has been designated at opposite gender day. The junior high football team will play Ortonville at home starting at 4:30 p.m. There will also be volleyball at home vs Echo starting at 6 p.m.

Wednesday is color day with each class designated to wear a specific color. Seniors and sixth grade wear black, juniors and fifth grade wear pink, sophomores and fourth grade wear blue, freshmen and third grade wear green, eighth grade and second grade wear red, seventh grade and first grade wear orange. The kindergarten, preschool and staff are asked to wear maroon.

That evening the Power Tuff volleyball game will be held in the gym for grades 9-12 starting at 7 p.m. The seniors will be defending their first place title earned last year as juniors.

On Thursday the students are invited to dress like they did in the ‘80s. A junior high football game with Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the football field.

Friday is spirit day with all classes asked to wear the school colors. The high school grades will have a dodge ball game in the gym at 12:50.

The elementary grades will begin lining up for the homecoming parade at 1:35 and the parade will begin at 1:45. Each elementary grade will march together in the parade and the Hancock band will also be marching.

The parade will go through main street and wind up back at the school for a pep fest. The Hancock dance line will be performing at some of the homecoming events including during half-time of the football game. Hancock will be playing Ortonville starting at 7 p.m. for the homecoming game.

The homecoming dance will take place on Saturday night in the school gym. It will go from 8 p.m. to midnight and the cost to get in will be $5.

The public is invited to join in the homecoming  celebration by attending these events.
