Stevens County Fair kicks off Wednesday in Morris

MORRIS, Minn. -- The 140th annual Stevens County Fair kicks off Wednesday, Aug. 7 at the Stevens County Fairgrounds in Morris for a full five days of fun.

Wednesday is entry day for Open Class and the first of two entry times for Homemakers.

The annual Fair Supper will begin at 5:30 p.m. and is free with the purchase of a Fair Button for $6. During the supper there will be a drawing for a trip.

Thursday is again entry day for Homemakers and judging for Homemakers and Open Class. It is also entry day for 4-H Livestock projects. The 4-H Food Stand and Commercial food booths will open at 10 a.m. The 4-H Poultry, Rabbit and Sheep shows will be held on Thursday. That night is wristband night at the carnival. Several free shows will be located throughout the fairgrounds on various stages. Tonic Sol Fa will be in the grandstand starting at 8 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 10 p.m.

The 4-H Swine show starts out Friday at the fair at 8 a.m. followed by the Beef Show at 1 p.m. The 4-H and open class Dairy show will be held at noon. Several entertainers will be around the fairgrounds. The Triple Rodeo will be in the grandstand starting at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday the 4-H Livestock Auction will be at 1 p.m. Many of the same entertainers can be found around the grounds and at night. The Enduro race will begin at 6 p.m. in the grandstand.

Sunday, the final day of the fair, will feature a Community Church Service at 11:15 a.m. The Sherwin Linton Band will be at the fair entertaining at 1:30, 3 and 5 p.m. It promises to be a fun and entertaining fair for all ages. Parking is free, there is no charge to attend and there will be lots to see and do at the fair.
