“How sweet it is” is the theme of this year’s Hancock July 4 parade and celebration. The majority of events will take place on Thursday, July 4 with just a few things during the weekend.

On Wednesday, July 3 there  will be a street dance at Inn Like Flinn’s starting at 8 p.m. featuring the music of ‘Electric Almighty.’ There is no cover charge for the dance.

Also that night the Little Miss Hancock Pageant will take place at the former Evangelical Free Church starting at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday will dawn early for many. While the Hancock Firemen are stirring up the pancake batter, the 5K run and walkers will be lining up at Page Lake. The Run/Walk will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m. The Firemen Pancake Feed will begin at 7 a.m. and run until 9:30 a.m. at the Fire Hall. The Little League All-Star game will begin at 10 a.m. At 11 a.m. a coin dig will take place at the school playground sponsored by Community Development Bank.

Over the noon hour you can picnic in the park by enjoying some of the food being served up by a variety of vendors at or near the Water Tower Park. The Hancock Commercial Club is sponsoring some inflatable children’s games at the park before and after the parade. The Lions Club will also have their popcorn wagon parked there for a fresh treat or if you wish to make a donation for the festivities.

Line up for the Kiddie Parade will start at 12:30 p.m. with the parade starting at 1:00. This will be followed by the main parade set to begin at 1:30 traveling the same route.

Several events will be taking place after the parade. The annual Tractor Pull will begin at 3 p.m. across from Trico.  Buddies will be hosting a volleyball and bean bag tournament.

On Thursday night there will be a band outside at Buddies. “The Coolers” will be playing from 9 p.m. - 1 a.m.

The day will end with the traditional fireworks shot off by the firemen at the baseball field.

One additional event for the weekend is a golf tournament sponsored by Buddies on Saturday, July 6. The golf at Pomme de Terre will begin at 9 a.m. playing nine holes in a friendly scramble. Bring a partner and draw for foursomes. Sign up at Buddies.
