Local students earn scholarships at CSB

Two area students have been awarded scholarships by the College of Saint Benedict for the 2009-10 academic year. They are first-year students at CSB.

• Shanda Arbach, daughter of Kevin and Nicole Arbach of Morris, has been awarded a $15,000 Regents'/Trustees' Scholarship.

• Christine Schneider, daughter of Bob and Lois Schneider of Alberta, has been awarded a $12,500 President's Scholarship and a $1,000 Music Scholarship.

The Regents'/Trustees' Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship awarded by the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University. To be eligible, students must have a 3.60 high school grade point average and obtain a score of 30 or higher on the ACT (1980 on the SAT).

In addition to high academic achievements, recipients must have demonstrated outstanding leadership and service during their high school years.

The final phase of the scholarship competition involves an on-campus interview with college faculty. The scholarship is a four-year renewable award.

The President's Scholarship is presented to students with excellent academic records and strong leadership and service credentials. The President's Scholarship is a four-year renewable scholarship.
